Target audience

We are looking for candidates who meet the following essential criteria:

(1) Professional

Candidates will be required to demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • a University degree (or equivalent academic degree);
  • at least 3 years of relevant professional experience (acquired after the award of the academic qualification required as a condition of eligibility) in performing the duties related to the post;
  • knowledge and experience in Aeronautics, particularly in the domains of Air Traffic Management and the related systems and infrastructures;
  • knowledge of the Defence domain;
  • a good understanding of EDA’s main tasks and functions;
  • a very good command of written and spoken English.

(2) Personal

All staff must be able to fit into the Agency's way of working (see para. 2). Other attributes important for this post include:

The following will be considered an advantage:

  • knowledge of Air Traffic Control/Management operations;
  • knowledge of military missions and training procedures;
  • knowledge of military aviation related systems (e.g. Communication, Navigation and Surveillance systems);
  • experience in organizing meetings and events;
  • experience of system-oriented programme management.

Why we are consulting

We are looking for an experienced Project Officer SES/SESAR Support.

Under the supervision of the Head of SES/SESAR Unit, the jobholder will be responsible for/contribute to the following activities:

  • support and coordinate all activities deriving from the EDA SES Military Aviation Board (ESMAB) both at Policy and Management level, particularly SESAR Deployment activities;
  • facilitate the coordination of military views and provide military advice regarding SESAR Deployment issues (CEF Call, SESAR Deployment Programmes, Common Project, SESAR Deployment monitoring);
  • support Member States in the framework of SESAR CEF Calls;
  • support the Project Officer SESAR Collaborative Projects regarding collaborative opportunities in relation to SESAR Deployment;
  • implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between EDA and the SESAR Deployment Manager;
  • execute the activities related to SESAR Deployment as detailed in the EDA-EUROCONTROL joint Work Programme;
  • manage documentation, efficient follow-up of meetings and events, drafting minutes, reports, and coordinating interventions;
  • support the necessary coordination with other relevant SES stakeholders, particularly with the SESAR Deployment manager;
  • support the organisation of meetings, workshops and events;
  • information management within the Unit, with Member States and with external stakeholders;
  • management and the monitoring of the EDA Collaborative Platform and the SES Unit SharePoint space;
  • in-house liaison and coordination with other Units and Directorates of the Agency;
  • take on additional tasks as required in the interest of the service.

Duties may evolve according to the development of the EDA’s structure and activities, and the decisions of EDA management.

Additional information

The Project Officer SES/SESAR Support will be appointed by the Chief Executive.

Recruitment will be as a member of the contractual staff of the Agency for a four-year period. Renewal is possible within the limits set out in the EDA Staff Regulations. The successful candidate will be recruited as Contract Agent, Function Group IV.

The pay for this position consists of a basic salary of 4.270,49€ supplemented with various allowances including, as applicable, expatriation or family allowances. Successful candidates are graded on entry into service according to the length of their professional experience. Salaries are exempted from national tax, instead an Agency tax at source is paid. Failure to obtain the requisite security clearance certificate before the expiration of the probationary period may be cause for termination of the contract.

Candidates are advised that part of the recruitment process includes medical analyses and physical check-up with the Agency’s Medical Adviser.

This list will be valid until 31/12/2026, and may be extended by decision of the Chief Executive. During the validity of the reserve list, successful candidates may be offered a post in EDA according to their competences in relation to the specific requirements of the vacant post. Inclusion on the reserve list does not imply any entitlement of employment in the Agency.
