Head of Technology and Innovation Unit

EDA is looking for a Head of Technology and Innovation Unit.

Under the supervision of the Research, Technology and Innovation Director, the jobholder will be responsible for/contribute to the following activities:

• lead and manage the integrated teamwork in the area of responsibility assigned to the Unit, including among others, planning and organising the resources, taking care of improving relevant skills and knowledge, setting priorities and acting as line manager;
   
• ensure the transversal way of working and coordination with the other Units and Directorates within the Agency;
   
• keep a strategic overview within the jobholder’s area of responsibility and manage proper Technology Forecast in coordination with the EDA CapTechs;
   
• lead the Overarching Strategic Research Agenda (OSRA) and coordinate inputs to this process from other relevant EDA work strands;
   
• interact with Member States, relevant EU agencies/organizations (European Commission/DG DEFIS, ESA, EUMS), ministries of defence of the EU Member States, European research organizations, academia and defence industry incl. SMEs as well as with NATO ACT and NATO STO;
   
• prepare strategies and policies for increasing cooperation and strengthening defence R&T and EDTIB on the cross cutting and underpinning technologies;
   
• contribute to EDA activities related to the European Defence Fund;
   
• chair workshops, working groups, project management groups or programme management committees if applicable;
   
• draft or coordinate the elaboration of internal and external documents and presentations;
   
• manage and monitor the mission budget of the unit;
   
• take on additional tasks as required in the interest of the service.

Duties may evolve according to the development of EDA’s structure and activities, and the decisions of EDA management.
