Project Officer Satellite Communications, Training and Exercises

We are looking for a Project Officer Satellite Communications, Training and Exercises.

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit Operations, Training and Exercises, the jobholder will be responsible for the following activities:

• support the activities of the EDA SatCom work stream and associated Communications, and Information Services work stream;
• support the EU SatCom Market Project Officer to provide business continuity and assume his tasks with his means and capabilities;
• support the EDA Programme Manager Satellite Communication in the field of developing the EDA SatCom activities, by providing regular feedback and input on GSC Demo and EU SatCom market user uptake:
  • on details of demand and capability requirements that are met;
  • on capability requirements that cannot be met;
  • on recommendations how to close capability gaps;
  • closely liaise with and provide input to the EU GOVSATCOM project and the Union Secure Connectivity project (IRIS²) as prepared by the European Commission under MFF 2021-2027.
• contribute to the development and implementation of business cases concerning new opportunities for cooperation in the field of education, training and exercise, demonstrating the added value for participating Member States and, when relevant, for the EUMS and EU CSDP missions and operations and other training opportunities potentially arising from the publication of the White Paper for European Defence Readiness 2030;
• support education, training, and exercise initiatives that enhance the availability and interoperability of the capabilities of participating Member States and EUMS and support their preparation for multinational deployments. This particularly includes the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), rotary wing domains, but also encompasses other domains (e.g. air, land or naval) as directed within the broader context of the capabilities of participating Member States;
• contribute to the preparation and delivery of the EDA UAS Operational User Working Group and its activities, focusing on collaborative training and exercises;
• provide support to other activities within the unit based on emergent trends associated with the EDA EU Council Tasking of March 2025;
• take on additional tasks as required in the interest of the service.

Duties may evolve according to the development of EDA’s structure and activities, and the decisions of EDA management.
